University of Houston Hotels

The University of Houston is a public research university in Houston, Texas. With 12 academic colleges and more than 36,000 students, UH is the third largest university in Texas.

The university awards more than 7,000 degrees annually among its bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs. As a research university, UH conducts research in each academic department and operates over 40 research centers on campus, including biomedical engineering, economics, education, and virtual technology.

UH is situated on a 560-acre urban campus in southeast Houston, approximately three miles from downtown. The university address is at the intersection of Interstate 45 and Texas Spur 5. Bisected by Cullen Boulevard, the UH campus boasts lush green spaces, sparkling fountains, and impressive sculptures, including a work by James Sanborn. Public transportation is available to and from UH via a number of Metro routes. The University of Houston is recognized as one of the most ethnically diverse national universities in the United States, with significant Asian American and Hispanic populations. Most international students are Asian.

The Houston Cougars, known as the Coogs, compete in the NCAA's Division I and are members of Conference USA. The football, basketball, and golf teams consistently appear in playoff and championship events. UH has 16 intercollegiate sports, as well as a variety of intramural athletics. The university's official colors are Scarlet Red and Albino White.
